Flyover Chicago

The newest addition to Navy Pier is the exhilarating  Flyover Chicago done in three parts. 

The first part you enter a gallery where you will watch videos of iconic places and people in Chicago. 

The second part is a room with a 360 degree theatre, where you will hear stories from local Chicagoans highlighting the diversity that makes up Chicago. 

And after a quick safety briefing it is time for the most exciting 9 minutes of your day. Riders are asked to store their belongings below them as they are seat belted in. There are three levels of rides I was on the bottom one. The lights go off and you begin your journey from sunrise to sunset and taking in all the seasons. A journey that will amaze, mesmerize and even tug at your heart strings as you experience Chicago like never before. This is not just an immersive ride but truly an experience for all ages. (although there is a 40″ height requirement and children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult). You begin to feel you are soaring over the city’s magnificent buildings, skyline and lakefront. I don’t want to give away too much of what you will experience but will say you can feel everything including wind, mist and local scents as you  hang suspended with your feet dangling, taking in all the amazing and thrilling sights. 

This is my second time here and I have to say it gets better every time. 

Whether you are a local resident of Chicago or visiting do not miss this.  You will truly have an amazing experience and see this incredible city as you have never seen it before. 

And as long as you are down at Navy Pier you might want to spend the day taking a stroll on the pier, visiting the shops and other attractions or dining al fresco at one of the many restaurants.
